Goals, Mission & Mission

GOALS

SIRD aims to:

  • strengthen collaboration between RNA researchers and institutions across Switzerland
  • promote scientific exchange through seminars, workshops, retreats, and conferences
  • support education and training opportunities for students and early-career researchers
  • encourage interdisciplinary and translational RNA research
  • foster outreach and communication activities related to RNA science
  • maintain and expand the national RNA research network established through the NCCR RNA & Disease

MISSION

SIRD connects RNA researchers across Switzerland to foster collaboration, scientific exchange, education, and innovation in RNA biology and disease research.

As a non-profit scientific association, SIRD supports interdisciplinary interaction, networking activities, scientific events, and training opportunities that strengthen the Swiss RNA research community.

VISION

SIRD envisions a collaborative, innovative, and nationally connected RNA research community that advances scientific discovery and contributes to a deeper understanding of RNA biology in health and disease.

By maintaining and expanding the successful national network established through the NCCR RNA & Disease, SIRD aims to create sustainable connections between researchers and institutions across Switzerland and to promote long-term scientific exchange beyond individual projects or disciplines.

SIRD further envisions a research community in which scientific excellence is combined with openness, collaboration, education, and public outreach. Through national networking activities, training opportunities, scientific events, and communication initiatives, SIRD seeks to create an environment that encourages innovation, supports future generations of researchers, and promotes the societal relevance and impact of RNA science.
